The market began at the CWA Hall in 1979 as an idea of holding a European style ‘artisans and farmers’ market in Eumundi, focussing on locally made goods. This focus is key to the market’s domestic and international success.

  • The first ever market, held on 24 March 1979, had three marketeers and a total of eight visitors.
  • By 1990, the market had some 260,000 visitors each year, with many travelling from interstate and overseas.
  • Today, the market has over 600 stalls and 1.6 million people visiting each year.
