The topic of Sustainable Jewellery

Sustainability is the one of the most talked about topics in jewellery and fashion industry right now. Customers are caring more and more about the sustainability of the jewellery they purchase, they'd like to have the transparency from where the gem and metals are mined to who made it, and the condition it was made. 

We feel sustainability is one of the reasons why pearl jewellery has been so popular amongst millennials as well as Gen Z. Pearl, being the only organic gem on earth, they are farmed instead of mined like all other gems, is a sustainable gem by nature. Lustrous Jewellery works with a few small ethical pearl farms in China near Shanghai, where we handpick our pearls. We then work with a few local artisans to produce our beautiful pearl jewellery. We design our pearl jewellery based on the natural beauty of pearls. 

As a gem, pearl doesn't need to be mined or polished, thus completely environment friendly, we love the fact pearls are now treasured by millennials and Gen Z, and leading the way of being sustainable jewellery.
